Abstract
 
Background: Nursing as a profession is one of the professions that play substantial roles in promoting the community health, and is responsible for providing health services and promoting health level. As the profession develops and the knowledge of courts of justice on the subject of professional nursing increases, nurses acquire more legal responsibilities for their performance. Data transferring, reporting, and recording of events without any trivial errors and ignorance as some of the heavy duties of nurses may bring heavy professional responsibilities for them that may lead to their legal interrogation in courts of justice.
 
Material and Methods: In this research a descriptive analytical plan with one variable for two groups was employed. One hundred nursing students from Islamic Azad University of Qouchan took part in this research. The subjects were taken from two groups of sophomores and seniors through a method of availability. The data were gathered through a questionnaire prepared by the researcher including 11 questions whose reliability was determined with a coefficient of a = 0.72.
 
Findings: The findings showed that average attitude score for the sophomores was 23.74 ± 4.32 while the average score for the seniors was 27.58 ± 4.62. Analysis of the data by t-test revealed a statistically meaningful difference between the attitudes of the students in the two groups at α = 0.05 level (t = 4.28, p = 0.000).
 Conclusion: Since report writing is one of the important aspects of nursing, and the reports made by nurses are an accessible source of information, it is hoped that the results of the present study and the knowledge of the attitude level of nursing students can be an effective step toward strengthening the scientific bases and promoting the skills of nursing students.
