Background: The quality in higher education as a highly appreciated value and accreditation as an evaluation model are effective approaches toward quality improvement and evaluation of educational programs. Due to the fact that Midwifery education plays an important role in the promotion of public health. this study tried to Investigate international accreditation standards in midwifery education inputs and also adopt appropriate national standards.
Materials&Method: this was a triangulation study conducted in 2003. the research sample consisted of managers of Midwifery Departments with bacculaureate degree and also the members of the Division of midwifery Board who were selected by convenience sampling and census,respectively. in order to suggest domestic standards, data collection was performed during 7 stages. after a vast research and collecting the standards of different countries through stages1- 3, the proposed area and standards were determined by experts at Isfahan university of medical sciences. turough stages 4-7, Delphi method was used to take votes and finally results were analyzed via descriptive statistics.
Finding: the findings of this study includes 2distinct area and 55suggested standards: Faculty (24standards), students (32 standards ) standards)
conclusion: Formulation of domestic standards through to take votes is a strategy for quality improvement in midwifery education and the use of international standards and adaptation with irans^, educational system and the use of experts in midwifery discipline is the most important stage of standardization.
Conclusion: ranking of midwifery department through standards in different domains and evaluation based standards can improve midwifery education in iran.
