Background & Aim: Pain management is an important children right and a priority in treatment. Nurses have a key role in the treatment of a child's pain, especially in the case of non-pharmacological treatment. In this regard, it is vital that Nurses have the necessary skills, information and knowledge to undertake this important role. The aim of this study is to determine the Knowledge and clinical practice of nurses in relation to proper non-pharmacological pain management.
 Material and Methods: This study is a descriptive design that was conducted in pediatric hospital in Tabriz, 2010.  All of nurses in the medical-surgical wards (n=50) were asked to take part in the study. We collected information by using researcher made Questionnaire that the first part contained a demographic of nurses, the second part contained 18 questions of Nurses' knowledge for using non-pharmacological methods and the third part contained. (18 questions) of nurses' practices. The Questions were ranked on a 3-point Likert-type.  The data were statistically analyzed utilizing descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation test.
 Results: The result of the study showed that all of the nurses were female. The majority of the nurses (60%) were married. Mean ±SD of age was 32.06±6.57. 88% of them held a BSc degree in nursing. Mean ±SD of experience in pediatric department was 8.12±6.73. In the area of nurses' Knowledge and practice for proper non-pharmacological pain management, 15.6% and 22.2% of nurses had optimal scores respectively.
 Conclusion: Proper non-pharmacological pain management depends nurses' knowledge and practice. So there is a clear need for further education.  Also nurses should be encouraged to use non-pharmacological methods.
