Abstract
Background & Aim: Male involvement in maternal health is one of the policies promoted by International reproductive health bodies. This study was performed to determine knowledge and attitude of couples before and after attending marriage consultation in Shahroud 2011. Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on 205 women referring to health centers in Shahroud. Convenient sampling was used. The data-gathering tool was a researcher made questionnaire containing 2 forms. The first form included demographic questions and 18 attitude questions in likert 5 range were responsibility female in 5 area with 16 in less and 90 in high score including in fertility(1), family planning(6), , sexual disease prevention (sexual health)(5),pregnancy(2) , parenting(1) infertility (1)Violence(2). Assessment was done pre and post consultation marriage class. Test re test reliability and Cronbach’s alfa were respectively 0.8 and 0.65. Descriptive statistics and analytics such as, χ2, Wilcoxon, were used for analyzing the data. Results: Mean age of the females under study was 22.91±3.856 years. Mean of women attitude from 69.20±8.284 (before consult) to 72.8±9.6 after invention (P=0.05). Conclusion: Regarding data ، it seems attitude should be improved in the field of reproductive health and specially emphasize on content and appropriate educational method in marriage class.
