Abstract
Background and Aim: Quality care and client satisfaction are of major priority in health services. Compliance of patient rights causes their satisfaction; therefore, it is one of health care preferences and unavoidable necessities. Considering this issue this study aimed to determine the factors associated with patient rights in the operating room, and was conducted from the perspective of anesthesia and operating room personnel.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive analytic research was conducted on all surgical and anesthesia staff as well as operating room of the Jahrom educational hospitals (89 people). Required information was gathered through two Questionnaires which consist of facilitating and inhibiting factors to measure the operating room patients' rights. The research samples in a 5-point Likert spectrum were used to reflect their views on each statement in the questionnaire. The statistical analysis of the Cornbrash's alpha coefficient in relation to the Facilitator Facts Questionnaire and the Patient Rights Observance Factors Questionnaire were 0.93 and 0.87, respectively. In analyzing the data, descriptive statistics methods such as mean, frequency and percentage were used to describe the variables under study.
Results: According to the findings of the factors facilitating patients' rights respectively, the "availability of adequate equipment in the operating room" with weighted average 3.10 and "ability to think critically and be ethical decision-making" with weighted average 2.59 in terms of operating room nurses and anesthesia of the highest and the lowest was important. Among the factors hindering patients 'rights also means "many in one shift operation" with an average weight of 3.58 as the most important factor in patients' rights were recognized.
Conclusion: Considering that the most important facilitator in this study was "Facilities Availability" and the most important deterrent to observing rights in the operating room was " large number of surgery during a shift" more research is needed in this area, and especially about these two factors, and its impact on patient rights, so that the results can be used in more reliable therapeutic planning.
